Brand and digital design for newly-formed council specialising in childhood trauma
UK Trauma Council is an Anna Freud Centre project aiming to create a world which nurtures and protects young people following trauma, actively supporting communities and providing a national hub for learning, training and policy guidance.
Alongside the incredible, dedicated team at Anna Freud, our role was to design the visual identity, website, and full digital build, for the launch of this new and much-needed council.

Discovery
We facilitated immersive workshops with key stakeholders, rationalising concerns around structure to form a clear strategy of how to fulfil the council’s ambitions for the project. The biggest challenge was to form clear user journeys that showcased complex bodies of research in digestible themes, with a varied user base in mind. Though it needed to be presented simply for newcomers, we also had to accommodate professionals searching for new methodologies that could apply to their work.
Visual identity
The identity created represents the human psyche. The logo inspired by concentric yet imperfect tree rings, was developed from the the idea of ‘surrounding conditions’ – a visual analogy of a child’s development. The association of trees with protection, wisdom, transformation and liberation was also part of our rationale.
